About Us

Worthy Girls, Worthy Lives is committed to working in the city of Baltimore to improve the confidence, self esteem, and life skills of pre-adolescent girls.

This program is located in West Baltimore which is notable for a high rate of poverty, teen pregnancy, and crime. Despite these challenges, the girls who live in this area need an opportunity to excel and thrive in life.

In an effort to give the girls access to information that they may not otherwise receive, we plan to teach them skills that will strengthen their self-worth, social skills, and service.

Staff Biography

Kirstyn Mayden

Kirstyn Mayden birthed the vision for Worthy Girls Worthy Lives in June 2012. Kirstyn has 12 years of experience serving in various capacities with children and youth as a tutor, summer camp teacher, Supervisor, Children’s Director, and counselor.

As a graduate of Spelman College, and Master of Divinity graduate of Candler School of Theology at Emory University, her academic expertise provides great value in assisting the girls to find their authentic voices. She has a passion to see girls succeed in life and this program aligns with her educational, ministerial, and professional experience that has contributed to her lifelong calling.

From spending extended time with girls specifically, she knows that many are longing for a chance to thrive, but not given the space and freedom to achieve.
Participation in WGWL serves as that opportunity.
